The Cheshire man accused of fatally stabbing his wife in a domestic dispute last month appeared in court this week. Emanuel Dominguez-VillaGomez, 31, is now being represented by high-profile attorney Norm Pattis.

Pattis is also representing Fotis Dulos in the case of missing New Canaan mother Jennifer Farber Dulos. Pattis officially began representing Dominguez-VillaGomez on Wednesday, according to FOX 61. Dominguez-VillaGomez now faces a murder charge after initially being arrested on charges of first-degree assault, risk of injury, reckless endangerment and unlawful restraint. He is being held on a $1 million bond.

Monica Dominguez died Sept. 15, just days after police responded to a 911 call from a cellphone in the 700 block of Mountain Road in Cheshire. Responding officers found Monica Dominguez on the floor in a pool of blood.

Dominguez told police that her husband tried to kill her because, "He say I cheated on him," the Meriden Record-Journal previously reported.

Dominguez-VillaGomez, who opened the door for police, claimed self-defense and told police that the victim — who sustained 20-30 stab and puncture wounds — had attacked him, according to the Hartford Courant. Dominguez-VillaGomez told police that they argued, "We argued, she grabbed knives, she had it and I just went crazy," the Courant previously reported.

Dominguez and Dominguez-VillaGomez were both treated at the scene and taken to separate hospitals. Dominguez was in critical condition and later died from her injuries. Dominguez's 11-year old son, who called 9111, and the couple's nearly 2-year-old daughter were at the home at the time of the incident.

At Wednesday's court appearance, Pattis requested that Dominguez-VillaGomez be allowed to have a supervised visit with his daughter in prison, according to the Record-Journal. The judge appointed an attorney to represent the children and the case was continued to Oct. 30.
